George Soros on Hillary Clinton

According to Politico, George Soros has recently given the super PAC supporting Hillary Clinton’s bid to be president $8 million dollars. George has definitely lived an interesting life that has left him with strong opinions.

He was born on August 12, 1930, in Hungary. At that time, the country was torn apart by hatred for the Jews. Even though the family did not practice their faith, they were Jewish. George’s father Tivadar Schwartz was so afraid that his family would be killed that he sent George to live with an official of the Hungarian government after giving him a Christian name. A year later, George was reunited with his family.
Years later, George requested that his mother record her memories of that time. According to the Washington Post those recording show that George saw a therapist to talk about his father. George says he thinks he saw the therapist to talk about his mother. Regardless, his father wrote a book about the experience and his love for the Esperanto language that was designed to encourage everyone living in intercultural harmony.
By the time that George was 15, the family had moved to London where George attended the London School of Economics. While he never had Karl Popper as a teacher, Karl’s book Open Societies and its Enemies had a powerful impact on him. He still considers Karl his spiritual mentor and points out the common points between Karl’s thinking and President Johnson’s Great Society.
After graduation, George went to work for Singer and Friedlander buying securities in one country and selling them in another. Soon, he moved on to Arnhold and Bleichroeder as a portfolio manager.
In 1961, he became a United States citizen and eight years later established the Double Eagle, which became known as the Soros Fund Management in 1973. Since that time, he has spent thousands of hours and lots of money trying to convince others that an open society is the best option for everyone in the world.
It is easy to see where George’s upbringing still influences the way that he thinks. Now, he believes that the best path to seeing those ideals become a reality in the United States is to elect Hillary Clinton.
